Course overview

Construction and Design is primarily concerned with the technical aspects of buildings and the processes involved with their construction and maintenance.

A fundamental need of the construction industry is to bring together construction and design in the act of building. This course recognises that need. It also responds to the demands of an increasing number of construction firms that are actively involved, not only with construction, but also with the act of creating buildings and their component parts.

Increasingly, client demand for 'design and build', as well as the commercial pressures for construction companies to increase their market share, has resulted in a demand for constructors who can also design, or have an appreciation of design and its management processes. This pathway allows you flexibility and choice depending on your particular circumstances. It also enables a more flexible route for built environment students.
