The Music Business short course is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a record company, including budgets, royalties, cash-flow streams and international licensing.All aspects of music publishing are thoroughly covered on the programme. Students are also encouraged to bring in a favoured piece of music to stimulate a group discussion. Eligibility There are no eligibility requirements to attend the Music Business course, apart from a genuine interest in the music industry.   • And identify the main characteristics of particular music markets in the UK.

Teaching and Assessment

The tutor issues printed handouts of budgets and other relevant information being discussed. The projector and white board are also used to identify certain royalty rates and other figures being discussed or explained. There is always a guest speaker, to talk about finance, or producing. Sometimes there will be a visit to a recording studio, if one is available.
