Course structureThis innovative economics degree has been designed to take a broader approach to economics and to enable students to confidently apply economic theory to the world.
This degree will give you a rigorous grounding in economic theory, as well as solid training in quantitative subjects. You will also have the opportunity to gain subject-specific knowledge of the behaviour and practice of banks, international regulation and finance, and the place of financial systems in microeconomics.
You will study courses in micro and macroeconomics, global banking and finance, economic history, and monetary economics. Other subjects include applied econometrics and quantitative methods. You will also undertake a project in economics and international business.
Our academics adopt a real-world approach to the teaching of economics to prepare you for your career. Sara Gorgoni , in our economics department, was interviewed by the BBC about how universities are rethinking the way they teach economics to offer more practical classes.
