If you have the ability but not the qualifications, an extended degree is the first step to graduation. This four-year programme is identical to the three-year degree, but includes a foundation year, and has a lower entry tariff.

A thorough introduction to chemistry. A thorough introduction to biochemistry and to biology. Fundamentals of drugs and diseases. Fundamentals of nutrition and health. Essential skills for science. Improved mathematics. Laboratory practice.. Degree structureThis programme focuses on the effect of food on physiology and metabolism. We are committed to promoting improved diet and health for all members of society. Students on this programme will learn to do this too by understanding and evaluating the socio-economic and behavioural determinants of nutrition-related issues such as obesity. You will study the science of nutrition along with other students in diverse fields such as biomedical, biological and sports science.
This programme will give you a multidisciplinary and scientific understanding of human nutrition and its relationship to health and disease. It will provide you with the necessary academic qualifications for further study in fields such as dietetics. It will also build your understanding and skills so you can improve the health and welfare of individuals, groups and populations in a safe and ethical manner.
