This qualification has three pathways for you and those can be selected as per your career plan:

• Generic Health and Social Care
• Dementia
• Learning Disability

This course has 9 mandatory units and those units are common for all above three pathways and optional units are decided your selected pathways.

Course Description:

Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating. Learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits to gain the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England.  28 credits must be achieved from all nine mandatory units.

Unit 1:Introduction to Communication in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 2: Introduction to Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 3: Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 4: Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
Unit 5: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
Unit 6: The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker
Unit 7: Implement Person Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care
Unit 8: Contribute to Health and Safety in Health and Social Care
Unit 9: Handle Information in Health and Social Care Settings

Depending on your interests or role in the workplace there’s a vast range of optional units to complement the skills and knowledge that you’ll gain in the mandatory units. It’s important to note that optional units need to be specific to each learner to ensure that their job role and work context enable them to meet the assessment criteria and requirements of the unit.

  • The qualification is competency based so there is requirement for assessment in a real work environment.
